Long-term zero-fouling poly (ethylene glycol) surfaces

Description:

The invention is a ultra-dense PEG coating for applicaton on medical devices and similar. The coating would enable protein resistance on the surface of the medical device. Material surfaces that are resistant to adhesion of biological entities like proteins or cells provide an essential platform for a wide range of bio-related applications. Current research has developed strategies for various PEG-derivative coatings. These achieve a 70-90% reduction of biological adhesion are are termed 'non-fouling' surfaces. This invention aims to improve this and is seen as a 'zero-fouling' surface.
