Perfusion Measurement

Description:

The group has discovered that oxygen availability in tissue depends critically on capillary transit time heterogeneity (CTTH), and not, as hitherto believed, only on local blood supply and blood oxygenation. This is a fundamentally new insight and research breakthrough. As a result, altered capillary morphology in ageing and disease can cause hypoxia and oxidative stress overlooked by current diagnostic means. Techniques have been developed across several diagnostic platforms, and the group is providing proof-of-concept that CTTH is critically altered in diseases such as Cancer, Alzheimer?s Disease, Dementia, Critical Illness, Diabetes and Stroke affecting patient outcome
